Across Africa, organizations are offering several opportunities that ambitious entrepreneurs can take advantage of. Menterprise Africa has curated a number of these opportunities whose deadlines are in August and September. Take advantage of them and apply before the opportunity window closes.

Hi-Innovator Business Foundational Course

Hi-Innovator is an initiative of Uganda’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) that supports small and growing businesses by extending catalytic seed funding, building the capacity of entrepreneurship support organisations to provide quality technical assistance and working with financing institutions to unlock affordable patient capital so that they can become more competitive.

Enabel Youth Entrepreneurship Promotion Program [Deadline: August 10]

The Enabel Youth Entrepreneurship Promotion Program is aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs in Uganda. The program is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 who are residents of Kampala, Mukono, or Wakiso. This opportunity targets owners of small informal businesses who are eager to grow and expand their ventures.

  • Agriculture (coffee and cocoa value chains)
  • Poultry and small livestock (piggery)
  • Apiary/apiculture
  • Sustainable forestry (timber & non-timber, Bamboo)
  • Sustainable tourism
  • Waste management and recycling
  • Renewable energy and solar installation

GHC Africa Leadership Accelerator Nominations Open! [Deadline: August 14]

Global Health Corps (GHC) is excited to launch the Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship, a 9-month hybrid program aimed at strengthening the leadership skills of early to mid-career health professionals (ages 21-35) across Sub-Saharan Africa.

To be eligible for the Fellowship, your nominee must:

  • Be age 21-35 by September 1st, 2024
  • Be a citizen of Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.
  • Be currently employed full-time in a non-clinical public health role for at least six months at the time of application.
  • Be currently employed by a public health organization operating in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia and has expressed written support for your participation in the program.

This fellowship is perfect for high-potential public health leaders committed to personal and professional growth.

Fellowship Opportunity for Young African Professionals! [Deadline: August 17]

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) invites applications for the ECA Fellowships for Young African Professionals programme.

This fellowship offers practical, on-the-job experience to young professionals preparing for careers in research, international development, and the public sector.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be below 35 years of age when entering the programme.
  • Must have a Master’s Degree or related Advanced degree.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in a Ph.D. programme or with an admission are also welcome to apply.

2024 Medal of Excellence Opportunity [Deadline: September 22]

2024 marks a decade for the “Home of Next-Generation Solutions” Innovation Consortium, celebrating 10 years of impactful, sustainable solutions. This year’s Medal of Excellence theme is “10 Years of Sustainable Innovation,” and the challenge is OPEN to all fields: Engineering, Agriculture, Economics, Health, ICT, Governance, Climate and Others

Rewards:

1st Place: UGX 11,000,000 (USD 3,000)

2nd Place: UGX 5,500,000 (USD 1,500)

3rd Place: UGX 3,500,000 (USD 950)

Winners will also receive the prestigious Medal of Excellence Award and opportunities to implement their ideas.
