The American Center has partnered with Stanbic Business Incubator to provide a 5-day entrepreneurship workshop to support you hone your business idea and catapult it to the next level. 

The workshop will take place on October 3 – 7 at the American Center, Level 5, Embassy Plaza. It starts at 8am daily.

  1. Caritas Acholi Agribusiness Innovation Challenge 2022

The Acholi Agribusiness Innovation Challenge seeks to identify and support innovative business solutions contributing to a sustainable and inclusive food system in and around Northern Uganda

The main winners will receive a share of a grant of UGX40,000,000 plus additional five months of mentorship. In addition, 3 – 5 promising early-stage ideas will receive microgrants of up to UGX1,000,000 and mentorship.

Eligibilty:

  • Applicants should have an agribusiness innovative idea to be implemented around the Acholi Sub-region.
  • Anyone with an already existing agribusiness solution being implemented in the Acholi Sub-region.
  • Entrepreneurs with innovative solutions in thematic areas listed above
  • Women entrepreneurs are especially encouraged to apply.

  1. The post-revenue Growth Accelerator Programme in Malawi

The Growth Accelerator Malawi Programme is a 12-months business acceleration programme for youthful high-impact post-revenue businesses looking to grow and scale.

The programme supports entrepreneurs with Up to USD40,000 in co-financing each; Mentorship and Technical Assistance.

Eligibility

  • Must be registered as a for-profit enterprise in Malawi with a business license readily available for verification.
  • Should have a verified product or service on the market for not less than a year
  • Should be operational for not less than two years
  • Demonstrate sound financial practices such as basic bookkeeping
  • Demonstrate that the business has been generating monthly revenues for at least the past 1 year
  • Has the founders or at least one of the founders’ full time involvement in the business
  • Be a youthful entrepreneur aged up to maximum of 45 years old
  • Should NOT have gone through a previous round of the Growth Accelerator

Can you design a new business or NGO that delivers a large-scale poverty intervention?

The organisation should solve one of the distribution challenges: Health, water, education, agriculture, livelihoods, energy, & public services.

Up to $20,000 USD is available to the most promising teams 

Eligibility

  • D-Prize is for aspiring entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world, of any age, and any background. 
  • D-Prize will consider funding existing organizations only if you are distributing an existing intervention and you have a need for high-risk capital that cannot be supported by your current donors or revenue. 
  • Existing organizations applying to D-Prize should have operated for no more than 18 months and raised no more than $30,000 in outside funding.

The Centre for Strategic Litigation’s East Africa Emerging Public Interest Advocates Programme is a six-month fellowship for young legal professionals.

The programme provides young advocates with the skills and knowledge necessary for public interest litigation and advocacy.

Upto 30 advocates from Kenya, Tanzania, and Ugandan will be educated in public interest litigation and advocacy, both in the classroom and in court.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of the East African Community Member states and expected to reside in the region during the term of the fellowship.
  • be a graduate lawyer admitted to the bar with between one and five years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrate passion for human rights, rule of law and a commitment to social justice
